Frequently Asked Questions
Can anyone play the pianos?
Absolutely. That's the whole point. Our pianos are for everyone — professional musicians, curious kids, and anyone in between. Have a seat and play.
What types of pianos do you accept?
We primarily work with upright pianos in restorable condition. Grand pianos and digital keyboards are not part of our current program.
How are placement locations selected?
We evaluate locations based on public accessibility, community impact, partner commitment, and logistical feasibility. We work with municipalities, businesses, libraries, and cultural institutions across Michigan.
Can I plan a performance or event at one of your pianos?
We encourage it. Concerts, lessons, sing-alongs, community gatherings — the pianos are there to be used. Just be respectful of other visitors who may be waiting to play.
How can my business sponsor a piano?
Sponsors fund a piano's complete journey — from rescue to community placement — for $2,000. Learn more about sponsorship or reach out at hello@michiganpianoproject.com.
I took photos or video at one of your pianos. Who should I tag?
We'd love to see it! Tag us @playmichiganpianos on Instagram and X.
How do I bring a piano to my community?
Start by filling out our partnership inquiry form on the Request a Piano page. We'll review your space, discuss the vision, and explore how a piano might fit.
